2016 Dodge Dart

New 2016 Dodge Dart Phoenix, AZ

The 2016 Dodge Dart replaced a car, which was the Caliber hatchback. The Dart feels far more focused on a meaningful part of the market. It holds up to the Neon design heritage for the exterior. With a low cowl and a wide stance. the look is far more substantial than some other models within this class. Just like the Charger, with its chunky, spirited look, there is a gravitas that is not always present in an affordable model. For the interior, the flowing dashboard takes the look in sporty directions, while the well-equipped models in the lineup include an 8.4" display for navigation, climate, and audio controls, as well as a smaller screen for vehicle information between the gauges in the instrument cluster.

Under the Dart's Hood

The 2016 Dart's base SE comes with a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder with 160 hp and 148 pound feet of torque that struggles against the Dart's weight. Luckily, the rest of the models in the Dart lineup get better engines. Aero models offer the same amount of horsepower but 184 pound feet of torque from their 1.4 liter turbocharged 4 cylinder. The SXT, GT and Limited come with the 184-hp 2.4-liter Tigershark engine. The engines all come connected to a transmission with 6 gears, either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic. Note that Aero models get a unique automatic using a dual dry-clutch transmission system. The base 2016 Dodge Dart SE is surprisingly lightly equipped. You get power windows, a tilt/telescoping steering column and safety features like multiple airbags, including a driver's-side knee-bolster airbag.

Design of Dodge Dart

The 2016 Dart lineup returns with an identical set of options and features. The base SE will again pack 16" steel wheels, cloth upholstery, power windows, telescoping tilt-wheel steering, air conditioning, and a single-CD/MP3 player boasting 4 speakers and an auxiliary audio input. The SXT adds some aerodynamic body enhancements, active grille shutters, 16" aluminum wheels, upgraded cloth upholstery, full power accessories, cruise control, a sliding front armrest, and a 6-speeker stereo, while the Dart Aero tacks on additional aerodynamic body parts and low-rolling-resistance tires. Many of the extra features found standard in higher 2016 Dart trims will also appear as options for the lower trims. Further trim-dependent options are slated to include the Mopar Interior package with cargo net, all-weather floor mats, unique door-sill guards, and a 506-watt Alpine premium audio system sporting 9 speakers.
