Married to the standard six-speed manual gearbox, the Jeep Gladiator will earn 16 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. When paired with the available eight-speed automatic transmission, the Gladiator will achieve 19 mpg combined. A 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 diesel engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission will be available later in the model cycle. When equipped for towing, the Jeep Gladiator will tow up to 7,650 pounds of cargo with a payload of 1,600 pounds.
When adventure calls, the 2020 Jeep Gladiator will answer with a pair of capable 4WD systems. The Command-Trac 4x4 System is standard in Gladiator S and Gladiator Overland trim levels and will employ a two-speed transfer case, heavy-duty Dana 44 axles and low-range gearing. Gladiator Rubicon editions employ a Rock-Trac 4x4 system with Tru-Lok locking differentials, Danna 44 axles, an electronic sway-bar disconnect, 11.1 inches of ground clearance and 30-inches of water-fording capability.
