2024 Jeep Gladiator Review
The 2024 Jeep Gladiator pushes the boundaries of the midsize truck segment, offering unmatched off-road capabilities, versatile design, and rugged performance. This new truck review will explore the key features that make the Gladiator a top choice for adventure seekers.
At Earnhardt Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we are excited to present this comprehensive 2024 Jeep Gladiator review. From its powerful engines and advanced off-road systems to its practical and stylish design, the Gladiator is built for those who crave excitement and utility in equal measure.
Exterior Design
Critic Edmunds notes that the Gladiator’s price has come down for 2024. This is true despite new equipment, more safety features, and other upgrades. That’s a remarkable feat.
Of course, the Gladiator has not lost its iconic design. If anything, it is more ruggedly handsome with its rounder grille with its updated seven-slot design.
If you look for its antenna, you may miss it. Jeep has embedded it in the fold-down windshield. That’s just one less thing to worry about on the trail.
Interior Features
The Gladiator looks tough, but it has its soft side. The practical and comfortable interior welcomes both rows of passengers to relax in an SUV-like space. There are more premium materials, elevating the quality of what you see and feel.
Passenger Space: 103 cu ft
Front/rear headroom: 42.8/42.8 in
Front/rear legroom: 41.2/38.2 in
Top features include an 8.4-inch touchscreen and automatic climate controls. Top trims pile on amenities including gorgeous leathers. The exterior customization extends to the interior where you can indulge your personality.
Performance
A 3.6-liter V6 powers the Gladiator just as it does the Wrangler. This tried-and-true Pentastar V6 spits out 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Jeep’s high-tech approach allows the engine to harness that torque at low speeds when needed for off-roaded. It’s also convenient when towing or climbing a tough hill.
Unlike the Ford Ranger, Chevy Colorado, or Toyota Tacoma, every Gladiator has four-wheel drive. The top system is Rock-Trac 4x4 with advantages such as an electronic locking differential.
Off-Road Capabilities
2024 brings more off-road capability. This includes upgrades to affordable Willys and all new trims the Rubicon X and the Moab X. The Gladiator is built high to keep components out of harm’s way. Skid plates protect vulnerable engine and transmission components.
Ground clearance starts at 10 inches. Water fording capability tops out at 31 inches. Plus, the Moab and Moab X are the most desert-ready Jeep trucks on the market.
Safety and Technology
There are more safety tech tools for the Jeep Gladiator driver this year. Essentials include a forward collision warning and a related autobrake. Other helpful devices try to prevent side collisions. These include lane keeping warnings, lane keeping assistance, and blind spot monitoring.
Although the Gladiator is made to please driving enthusiasts, Jeep still offers adaptive cruise control to allow you to relax in busy traffic.
A forward-facing off-road camera adds to your safety and fun on the trail. The Jeep Off-Road and Off-Road+ mode help drivers take on more trail challenges with less worry.
Utility and Versatility
Assisted by trailer sway control, tow ratings start at 4,000 pounds. The regular Sport S offers to tow up to 7,700 pounds, making it best in class among gas-powered midsize trucks.
Towing: 4,000 lbs, 7,700 lbs
Payload: 1000 lbs, 1725 lbs
Bed Length: 60.3 in
Bed depth: 33.9 in
Bed volume: 35.5 cu ft
The roomy bed has a multifunction tailgate and an available Trail Rail Cargo Management System. Best of all, this Jeep truck is easy to customize with Mopar accessories. Rivals can’t take advantage of these fun style extras and equipment.
Comparisons
Since day one on the market, the Jeep Gladiator has had an edge over competitors. No other truck lets you drop your top. A sunroof is all you can hope for if shopping Chevy Colorados, GMC Sierras, Toyota Tacomas, Honda Ridgelines, or Ford Rangers.
The second Gladiator advantage is capability. Jeep chooses to empower every one of its trucks, leaving no truck with an underpowered engine just to reduce the price by a few bucks.
A third advantage is its 6-speed manual transmission. Only one other midsize truck is still offering drivers the fun of manual shifting.
Rankings and Reviews
The Gladiator is called a party of a pickup by Car and Driver. Praising the Jeep as the most eye-catching truck today, Edmunds calls it a new-old truck, just refined! They particularly like the fact that the backseat is bigger than most midsize trucks.
Motor Trend notes its best-in-class payload. All critics agree that this truck is uniquely capable, whether it’s hauling, towing, or off-roading.
