Landscape view of Camelback.Located near Phoenix, Scottsdale is a beautiful area. It is unfortunately sometimes overlooked by travelers who only want to go to the largest cities. However, Scottsdale offers plenty to do in a fun and relaxing environment. Here are five reasons to visit Scottsdale, whether you’re going on a long summer vacation or a day trip from a nearby town with friends and family.

Experience the Desert

One of the things that Arizona is known for is its vast deserts. At the McDowell Sonoran Preserve, you can explore almost 30,000 acres of outdoor wilderness. You can go hiking, mountain biking, and rock climbing while overlooking breathtaking desert views. The pristine desert landscape is unlike many other places in the country.

Explore Museums

If you like to visit museums, there are a number of interesting museums in the Scottsdale area for you to check out. The Musical Instrument Museum showcases more than 15,000 musical instruments from around the world, with many musical artists traveling to perform at the museum each year. At the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, affectionately called SMoCA, you can explore four galleries, with special discount days throughout the week. At the Scottsdale Museum of the West, you can learn about the American West with art exhibits, historical artifacts, and films.

Support Baseball

During the spring months, more than a dozen Major League Baseball teams flock to Arizona for spring training. Baseball fans from all across the country come to Arizona to support their hometown teams and see them during the off-season. If you love baseball, plan on going to some of the spring training events in Scottsdale to meet other baseball fans, catch a foul ball during batting practice, or get the signature of your favorite players.

Enjoy Warm Weather

For most of the year, you can enjoy warm weather during the day in Scottsdale without the humidity found in other warm weather parts of the United States. This makes it easy to enjoy walking outside in the sunshine through an outdoor market or driving down the streets in a convertible or an open-topped Jeep.

If you want to participate in outdoor activities, visiting Scottsdale makes sense because you will be able to do these things nearly every day of your trip if the weather cooperates. Just remember that at night, the desert can get much colder, so plan on bringing warm clothes if you plan to adventure after dark.

Play Golf

Scottsdale is the perfect place to golf all year long. At the recently renovated McDowell Mountain Golf Club, you can play the 18-hole, par-71 golf course. While walking the greens, you can look at Pinnacle Peak and the Camelback Mountains, which offer stunning views you will always remember.

These are just some of the reasons to visit Scottsdale. Whether you visit local museums or just enjoy spending time outside in the warm weather, Scottsdale certainly won’t disappoint you. Use this guide to get started planning your relaxing vacation in the sunshine.
