A dirty Jeep driving over some very large logs in a forest. The 2018 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon comes with fantastic off-road capability. If you’re looking for a powerful vehicle for action-filled drives, this is the right one for you. Compared to its predecessors, the 2018 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is a few inches longer and wider and comes equipped with larger headlights, new LED daytime running lights, and a more prominent grille. Let’s look at some of the improved performance features of the Rubicon.

Interior Changes

While the exterior design hasn’t undergone much redesigning, the interior has undergone extensive revamping. It is more spacious, with increased legroom for four occupants, and comes with an eye-catching red panel with a standard 7-inch Uconnect infotainment system that is smartphone compatible and user-friendly. You can also upgrade to an 8.5-inch display.

You can adjust your vehicle setting preferences via the touch screen, voice commands, steering wheel controls, and the central stack settings. The seats are cloth-upholstered, but you can upgrade to leather-upholstery.

Stronger Chassis and Engine

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon has a whole new improved and fully-boxed frame made of 80 percent high-strength steel. The soft-top has undergone a redesign, but you can still lower and fold down the windshield to experience open-air drives. You can also opt for a hard top which offers more wind protection on highways.

The Rubicon comes with the powerful 3.6-liter V-6 engine that produces 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. It comes with a six-speed manual transmission, but you can choose the optional eight-speed automatic transmission. If you decide to switch to the 2-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine, you can expect 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.

Electric Locking Front and Rear Differentials

With this vehicle, you will have no trouble tackling steep hills and getting through a terrain with potholes and deep ruts. If the road conditions get too extreme, you have the option to disconnect the Wrangler Rubicon’s sway bars and give the vehicle more wheel articulation. You can also get more control and power by locking the front and rear differentials. Use the prominently placed toggle switch to shift between the rear and front lockers to give your Jeep Wrangler Rubicon even better terrain traction.

High Ground Clearance

Equipped with more slender fender flares and wider wheel openings, the Rubicon can fit in hefty, 33-inch or 35-inch all-terrain tires that give the vehicle an excellent ground clearance. This means you can drive your Rubicon over a rocky terrain without hitting the differentials.

Improved Suspension

The improved suspension means a smoother drive on rugged dirt roads and across rough terrains. The designers changed the track bar location and repositioned the axle housing’s control arms. Thanks to this, the 2019 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon doesn’t experience the side to side jolting that previous Jeep models did.

Driver Assist Features

The Rubicon comes with various driver assist features like blind-spot monitor system, rear cross-traffic alerts, and park assist sensors.

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is a versatile, dependable vehicle with many customization options, and, as such, this vehicle is going to please the most hard-to-please off-road vehicle enthusiast.
